Right, knew that would come, but looking for the "WHY" the normal.dot was

It's my understanding that anybody who's ever used Word much stops bothering
to question why normal.dot gets corrupted. It just does. And pretty often,
too, in some installations. I don't think it's due to any outside influence,
more due to Word itself. But you'd have to ask a Word expert to know for
sure.

Yeah, I figured Dian would have an article on that one. One of the best of
the MVP mold, AFAIC.
But that article really doesn't deal with the problem at hand, it only
explains the Normal.dot file. Towards the bottom are links that more
directly address our issue.

and it doesn't discuss the "why" of the corruption, either. All I know is
that it's like certain other things in Windows, especially things that
involve massive code bases, or huge banks of entries in the Registry, and
that's that, mostly due to the application itself, corruption happens. It's
a fact of life.
