Hi All
I have been given a widows 98 pc by my friend unfortunatly he has no
installation disk. I would like to change the language from Spanish to
English. When trying to change I am asked to insert the cd rom Widows 98. as
I have not got a disk is there any way to change this without a disk or
download the file from somewhere. The file it is looking for is
(kbduk.kbd=WIN98_42.CAB). He gave me a Floppy which says installation disk
but can not find it on there.
I only need this pc as a second back up to my WindowsXP PC
Thank you

1.  Language is set by the installation disk.
So reinstallation from an English-language
disk would be the only way to change the language.
Win98SE is no longer sold by Microsoft, but can
sometimes be found on eBay.  You really need 3 disks:
-- boot floppy that prepares CD drive for DOS use
-- CD disk with Win98SE Operating System.  You
need Second Edition to connect modern USB gadgets
-- (Free) 2004 MS Windows Security Update CD,
desirable to update the Internet browser and
instal securiity patches.

2..  Yes, you may need kbduk.kbd in order to get
rid of Spanish configuration of the certain keys.  But
if the PC boots Windows OK and if you can figure
out how to connect it with the XP PC it will become
available for backup.
2b.  Or else you could simply take out its hard
drive, put that into the XP PC, and use XP to reformat
it for use as backup.
