Hello all,
I don't know if this is the place to post. On a win98SE running Office97
we are getting 2 errors when running Excel or Word. The first one (Explorer
caused an invalid page fault in module comctl32.dll at 017f:bfb7fcea). The
other one (Spool32 caused an invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll at
017f:bff7b9a6). The first one happens at anytime and closes the office
program. The second of course happens when printing only sometimes. And the
office program closes. I have learned that office 97 running on win98 has
some known issues. One issue is if the office program is windowed and the
mouse is moved from the office window to the desk top then the comctl32.dll
error will occur. But this is happening when the office program is in full
screen. We put the print spool set to RAW for testing. Not sure how thats
working yet. I ran searches on the errors and hve not found much. Any
Idea's? thanks Kelly

1.  You need the expertise of MS Office users i.e.
one of the (hundred-odd) MS Newsgroups for this
software.  Look for the word "legacy" or something
similar so you avoid NGs oriented by WinXP
2.  Your first task should be to identify (and get
and instal) the upgrades or bug fixes issued earlier
for Office97.  There are probably at least a couple
of important ones.
(3.  Are you sure your personal uses really demand
this software?  Both WordPerfect are MS Word are
OK for stenographers but clunky and unbearable for
ordinary writing.  There are by now a couple of public-
domain office suites that can read XLS and DOC
format files but work faster and better since they
are simpler.  Even MS Write is better than MS
Word for everyday use.)
