I recently manually uninstalled works 3.0. I cannot get win 98SE
to install 4.5a nor 3.0. What did I do and how can I get the comp
to recognize the disc.

1. If your PC will not recognize the Works CD,
your CD ROM drive may have died. They do not
last for ever.
2. If your question concerns compatibility with
Win98SE of various versions of Works, you will
get better advice in a NG for MS Works or
legacy applications.

It may not even be on a CD, it might be on floppies. Sounds like the
media is the problem as you've said, and not the operating system, from what
he's written.

What happens when you try to install Works 4.5a? Do you get any error messages? I
assume it is on a CD.....does the disc appear in My Computer when you insert it in
the CD drive?

2 minutes thats an overly long time,
cd may be/is bad, may only be the area where autoplay is configured
hold down shift while inserting cd to disable autoplay
try to run the install program from explorer
gently clean the cd and try again
