The other day, I tryed to restore a backup registry but, according to
Scanreg, all 5 backups were bad. Why would all 5 registry backups be bad?

Why do you need to restore the registry?    If you are receiving messages
that the registry is corrupted, then it is possible that you have bad RAM.
In that case, every copy of the registry you restore will appear to be bad
when it is loaded into the bad RAM.

In what way did scanreg say they were bad?  Exactly what message did you receive?
