What should I try when Win98 SE shuts down to the "Windows Is Shutting down" logo screen and just sits there? I end up turning off the computer manually. Thanks! Under General > Advanced disable Fast Shutdown. 98 SE has a shutdown timing problem and that usually fixes it. There is also a Shutdown supplement for SE but there have been problems reported on some systems with it. If Disable Fast Shutdown is ghosted then you already have the supplement. I have not had a shutdown problem since. As I recall using them does not rebuild the ShelliconCache if it's needed, so I discontinued using them.
