Hi Don, I meant the "windows 98 Display" folder to the left ... on the
discussion Group Screen ... to the left of this note you are looking at. I
posted a full description of the problem in that folder. If you have some
ideas after reading the note, I would appreciate knowing what you suggest.

Sorry, cannot help: this folder seems to belong to your
email app which you did not name. No such folder
appears in OE.v.6.

Perhaps the reference is to " microsoft.public.win98.display.general "
newsgroup.
Here's an idea, if no-one has responded there, post the query in this
group.
AS an FYI, many of the individual ME/98/95 newsgroups are no longer being
actively monitored by a large number of people [you can only monitor so many
groups before your newsreader becomes a mess of servers and headings, most
with little activity, taking up large amounts of space and time]. Choose
this group for at least preliminary questions related to 9X issues/DOS. If
someone wishes to place the issue in one of those separate newsgroups, they
will likely inform the querier of the need to do so [though why they would
is beyond my understanding].

From your thread "Subject: Laptop TFT ... garbled letters" in the
microsoft.public.win98.display.general news group, you include the following
snipped "Excerpts from the Owner's Manual"
> ... the VGA driver for Windows 95, ..
> ... select "NeoMagic MagicGraph 128ZV"
> to change the driver.
and

So it would appear that you need a later version (than 95) of the NeoMagic
MagicGraph 128ZV driver for Win98 and later.
Try http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=71540
or http://www.video-drivers.com/companies/717.htm
You may have to do a bit of filtering and/or trial & error, on the second
site for the correct version but there appears to be a comprehensive list.

Thanks Mart,
I will look at both of what you recommend. I have looked through Driver
Guide pretty thoroughly, but will look anyway. I will also try the other
site you mentioned.
