I need help. My computer shuts down & restarts by itself
all the time. Sometimes it will stay up for hours,
sometimes it gets in a loop & continuously starts & shut's
down. I have restored & recovered to the originally
factory settings. I have formatted drives. My guess is it
is a hardware problem. Any ideas?

Your guess is a good one.  It could be any faulty or failing component.
Commonly this is caused by bad memory modules (RAM), a bad or dirty cooling
fan in the system, or a bad power supply.  You may wish to enlist qualified
assistance figuring it out since the do-it-yourself approach can get
expensive.

>your guess is right, it is windows ME. I have the same
problem with my computer. My suggestion is a different
version of windows.

And I feel that your "guess" is wide of the mark.  Random shutdowns have
little if anything to do with the operating system but rather much more to do
with the hardware on which the system is running.  Changing the operating
system when the hardware is at fault will not solve any problems.
