In my PC I have 2 USB ports which is not enough so I
purchased a POWERED 7 port USB hub.  Now if I connect for
example my printer/scanner/optical mouse/web cam one or
more will not work.  I also have a usb connection for my
Alcatel Speedtouch Broadbans connection which sometimes
will not connect depending on which other things I have
plugged in.  Being a newbie I assumed that by buying a
powered hub extension, everything should work at the same
time. Also should I have got a message that my PC has
found a new device, because I didn't get one.  Can anyone
help please.  Many thanks.

I suspect you've made the same mistake I did - not looked for the 'on
switch'! If you've got a Belkin hub, it's a *very* small switch on the side
of the unit, and doesn't stick out at all, and is not easily visible. (it
took me a week before I realised what the problem was!!)

The USB Hub install is pretty silent - check in Device Manager and see if
it's there. If not, then you probably have a hardware problem.
