I am trying to find a solution to why I have winoldap
running in my system tray for no spefic reason. Operating
system - windows me,gigabyte ga7dxr mobo,gainward
fx5900128 meg vid card, creative audigy2 zs plat. sound
card and 512 meg mem. I have already tried re-checking the
auto close box for dos prompt properties located in ths
accessories panel....I can"t figure out what is forcing
this 16 bit app into my tray just hogging up memory. any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Winoldap is loaded whenever you have an old 16 bit (Windows 3.1 or DOS)
application running.

Hey Mike,
I dont have any old programs running. This
particular case is very strange I think it is causing my
machine to lock up on start-up. As I have run a complete
selective start-up tests I get a lock -up whenever I leave
my router conneted to the computer and try and boot. When
I disconnect the internet from my nic card it boots
perfectly fine....However the culprit here is the blue
screen of death. I tracked my boot issues to vredir.VxD.
when enabled  I crash ..when dis-abled it boots
perfect...Im running win ME for an operating system so I
am thinking this winoldap that is running in the systray
is somehow  creating the VxD issue..I have done a complete
virus scan and found nothing... I am uncertain if I am
fighting 2 problems or just one ..?

If winoldapp.exe is running then you do have an old 16 bit application running
and this may or may not be related to your other problems.

As to your problems when connecting your router all I have to suggest is that
you try borrowing or buying another NIC or alternatively look for a
another/better Win Me driver for your NIC.  I don't think your problem has
anything to do with a virus.

The free  "Process Explorer" will quickly tell you if any 16-bit app, or
any other, is executing:
