HP PSC2110xi problems

I have a HP PSC2110xi printer/scanner/copier and it seems that
there is a problem with it working with Win98/Me.  I have WinMe on
a Dell Dimension L733r with 192mb ram, 80 g hard drive.  The info
at the HP help site :
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/document.jhtml?reg=&plc=&lc=en&cc=us&prodId=hppsc21
10x79491&docName=bpu00731&cat=solve

gives some insight as to why the printer does not work properly,
but does anybody have some kind of workaround?  I have tried
everything they suggest, but the problem remains.  Printer works
fine right after startup, but after a couple of things are
printed, then the next thing won't.  It goes to the spooler, but
never prints.  I am about ready to sling it out the window.  Help.

'Slang' it out the window and buy a new one

I'm already considering that.  :-)

After (or preferably before<g>) that 'helpful ' advice from our old 'friend'
Votecedu' - try this.....

With that system spec, you shouldn't have memory problems (HP seem somewhat
confused about the difference between Memory and Resources - nothing new
there, then!), but Resource problems will persist if that is the true cause
of the problem.
Check your Startup  axis, using the following site as a guide - disable
anything that isn't essential
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php
This should free up some resources (and possibly some memory - but that
shouldn't be the problem)

Just in case - open SYSTEM.INI in Notepad
Check the [vcache] section - it should be empty - if not then put a
semi-colon (;) at the front of each line in the section, save the changes
and reboot

Check that you have Windows managing your Virtual Memory -
System Properties | Performance | Virtual Memory

see if that helps - and post back with any results!

Thanks for the reply.
I already have my startup as slim as possible,so I don't think I
can get any help there.  I checked system.ini  [vcache] section
and it is empty, and Windows is managing my virtual memory.  Any
other suggestions other than "slanging it out the window"?

'as slim as possible'? - are your system resources above 75% after a reboot?

I'll have to think about this one - HP's site isn't very forthcoming, and it
may be a case of beating them about the head (with a large brickbat!) to get
some sense, or new drivers out of them.

I just did a reboot and system resources are 80% free.

No - I'm out of ideas.
Brickbats and strong words to HP are in order, methinks!

Okay...thanks for trying.  I'll go harass them for a while.
