I am trying to install a network card, and have installed
it as instructed to do so by the manual. I have then gone
to see it it is functioning. I have gone to the devices
properties, which tell me that ti is installed, how ever
the loss of these two files : NDIS.VXD and NTKERN.VXD
prohibit it from working. i have updated the driver from
the network card's manufacter's website, and have
installed it,which has not effected the problem. I
believe it is something, whichis in a windows update,
however my PC is not connected to the internet, and I
cannot download the updates for windows ME from an XP
machine, or as far as I know I can't. If anyone has any
suggestions, they Would be apreciated

I vaguely remember this problem myself in the past. try
this:
uninstall the card and reinstall it. when it says those
files are missing, opt to look for them and point to the
windows\system folder where they should be. hope this
helps. otherwise, you should be able to look for the
individual files or the .CAB file that holds them on the
ME CD so look there also
