I purchased a cd burner about a year ago..it used to work
fine. I now try to burn .gif images and it gets almost
finished and blue screens my comp so i have to hit
reset...I have nero 5.0 and have done the updates with no
help to the problem. At first before the blue screen
errors my computer would just freeze up before it finished
and other times i would get fixation errors. I have evn
tried using different cd-r's and still same cenario. Any
help ?

Hi,

Assuming the drive isn't damaged:

First, trying getting a cleaning kit and clean the drive.
A laser gets dirty like anything else.
Second - try burning at a slower speed.
Third - Check the box that says to copy to the hard drive
first - slower but usually works better.
Fourth - Close as many other apps as possible to free up
memory
Fifth - Check device manager and make sure everything is
working - no exclamation points or big question marks
Sixth - Reinstall or upgrade the software (probably not
the problem unless you have crashed a lot)
Buy a new computer!  :O

You may want to list your status of;
1. C:\Widows\Temp\ Temp Files ?  How many?
2. Amount of RAM memory ?
3. Size of free space on Hard Drive ?
4. How many programs are running at the same time? ALT CTRL DEL
5. Last time and how often your run SCANDISK ?
6. WindowsUpdates ?
