I can't get my sound to work at all and I have no speaker
icon on the task bar either. Anyone have any ideas as to
what could be wrong ? Please send me an email if you can
help. Thanks

Asked and answered here, sorry. Assuming you checked the obvious things
like your speaker cables and the power to the speakers, if any, Reboot to
Safe Mode, remove any sound devices, reboot to normal mode and Windows will
hopefully reinstall the drivers for your sound card.

In Control Panel>Sound and Multimedia, make sure the "show volume control
on taskbar box is checked and on the next tab choose your card as the
prefered audio playback device, click apply, OK.
