hello there,

i have a problem, in windows Me, when i plug a usb key
device, i would like when i unplggeg it to disable the
alert message who says:" you have unplgged or ejected a
device without stopping it which can cause your computer
to crash and lose valuable data.  please use the hotplug
icon in the staut bar to safely remove devices before
unplugging them." so it is possible in a way or another
to disable the message or stop this? if somebody knows
this it would be very helpfull thank you....

Yeah, guess they should call it "lukewarm-pluggable" instead of
"hot-pluggable". Do you have any objection to doing what the thing asks
you too ?

I think here, the distinction is between Hot-PLUGgable - and UNPLUGgable!!

The reason for the Stop command is to ensure that all caches are written to
the device before it's unplugged. Without some sort of warning the system
simply can't know that you've finished with the drive, and so flush the
cache to write - and you may lose the end of the last file written.

How does your VB program know that it is safe to remove without losing any
dta or causing corruption?

AFAIK, there's no reliable way to switch off the warning/error message -
although it is possible to force a cache flush so that you can ensure that
the data is written.
