New Microsoft wireless mouse box does not include ME as a
compatible operating system.  Before I open the box, has
anyone been able to use Microsoft's wireless mouse with
the ME system.

Thank you.

It is theoretically possible if you can find older drivers for the mouse,
but I haven't seen them myself.  I would return the box, unopened, and get
one that is guaranteed to work with WindowsMe.

Thank you for your reply.  I should have looked at the box before I bought
the mouse but
I thought ME was recent enough that I didn't question that it would work.  I
will take your
advice.  Thank you.

You're welcome.

And yes, that is a bit confusing sometimes - since WindowsMe came out after
Windows 2000, you'd think it would be supported ... but isn't.

I also unfortunately have windows ME and just purchased a
wireless keyboard/mouse set. i was able to get both of
them working, by booting up with them plugged in, and
resetting the connections on the receiver. I was unable
however to install the software. I got an error 1101.
apparently i had some temp files in windows that were not
accessible, leading me to believe these are available with
microsoft XP. but...they work.

1101 errors when  installing Intellipoint software are usually the result of
Windows Installer conflicts.  For more details see KB329354 - ""Error 1101"
Occurs When You Try to Install IntelliPoint or IntelliType Pro Software"
(http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=329354) where you will see it suggested
that you delete all copies of msi.dll (from DOS) and then try reinstalling the
Intellipoint software again.  Whether this will help though with software that
is clearly marked as not to be used on Win Me will have to be for someone else
to test.  :-)
