Hi,

I have Windows ME install on my laptop. I recently
subscribed to Rogers highspeed internet and it was working
fine, until one day it was unable to access the internet.
I spoke to the tech. support @ Rogers, and the modem and
everything else is fine. It can access a site using the id
number(instead of the (www) address). So they suggested it
a 'win stop' error.

Can you please help me?

Hi

That's a DNS problem - get back to your ISP.  It means that the www.* address can't be resolved to an IP Address.

Hi Noel

Only if that particular URL had been added to the Hosts file.  Unless of course it was a 'downloaded' Hosts file.  Then the OP wouldn't know what was in it.  As the OP says 'until one day...' -  www.* not resolving to an IP Addresses would signify a DNS problem.

Hve to agree there. anyway, if this were the NT or 2000 groups I would ask
about hosts files first but...
