Just bought a new laptop with windows XP and no 3 1/2
floppy drive.

Would like to trans files to a jumpdrive using the old
computer with a windows ME oper system. If there is a way
to make the transfer work, please advise.

Thanks

Just a few "possible" solutions but all will cost you - more or less!

Buy a USB floppy drive for the laptop - if you have a collection of floppy
disks and you often use them (for portability?) then this option * may* be
cost effective ($20-30)

Burn them to CD, if you have a burner on your WinMe box - or somebody
else's, if they have that facility <g>

Buy a USB to USB Link cable - comes with file swapping software (assuming
you've got USB on your WinMe box, but see above) again $20-30.

Or plug his USB jumpdrive or whatever into the Win Me box and copy the
files to the drive.  If a jumpdrive is like other USB "pen" or flash
devices then Win Me already has the necessary drivers.

Mmm..  I did wonder what Chris meant by a 'jumpdrive', but the wording of
his question sent me in 'another direction' <g>

Understood.  It might have helped if Chris had posted a little more in the
way of details such as what problems if any he experienced when plugging
in the jumpdrive.  I suspect that it might well be the all too familiar
lack of usbstor.sys etc which, as you know, is easily solved.  Unlike
s-video connections to a TV from an nVidia card.  :-)

Cheers - will try to remember to write tomorrow.

If your old computer has a USB 2.0 port, it will recognize
the jumpdrive upon installation.  Put desired files onto
the jumpdrive just as you would on a floppy disk.  Open MY
Computer to access the jumpdrive.
