Trying to resolve this "out of memory" error, I discovered
that my hard drive shows up as a negative number in the
virtual memory setting.  Any suggestions as to how I can
fix this problem?

What you are seeing is a cosmetic error, nothing more, and a result of
having more than 32GB of free space on the drive in questions.  For more
details see cosmetic error (See MS KB272620 - "Negative Hard Disk Free
Size Reported on Virtual Memory Tab in System Properties"
(http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=272620) where you will find it states
"You can ignore the incorrectly listed free space because Windows
internally interprets the numbers correctly as large positive numbers.").
