Hello,

i am considering installing an extra sound-card (actually an audio
production card) on a PCI card).  My motherboard also has it's own onboard
audio.

My question is, I still want to use the motherboard's audio output, as well
as the dedicated output on the PCI card.  Will my audio apps (such as WMP)
give me the choice of which audio WAVE-OUT's to use, or would I be able to
set this by the control panel?

thanks for any input ..

Recalling others who have tried it over the years and reported their woes -
conflicts with resources -  (and from my own disasters) - probably not.
(Although USB audio devices seem to work along with PCI/on-board devices)

But there's no reason why you shouldn't attempt it yourself - just be sure
to back-up your registry before you start and make sure you've set a system
restore point (and confirmed it works!!)

Might be useful to confirm that the PCI card (and its associated drivers)
does actually work ok on your box before you start dabbling in the occult.
You'll need to disable your 'on-board' audio first in your BIOS before you
start for this exercise.

Dunno, you tell us <g>

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
