Google usurped by Motor Search

All of a sudden my Google website has been hijacked by
something titled Motor Search (www.motor-search.info). I
have Google set up as my Internet home page, but now, when
I launch Internet Explorer, instead of Google, up pops
Motor Search. At the bottom left-hand side of the page it
reads http://www.google.com/ but it isn't Google; it's
Motor Search. I suspect that I have been set upon by
spyware. I will appreciate any expert advice on how to get
rid of Motor Search so that I can regain access to the
real Google.

Jerry,

I presume that you are confirming my suspicion that I have
a spyware problem and that I should look into installing
either SpySweeper or Ad-aware. Is my presumption correct?
I have read reports that Spybot Search and Destroy is
superior to either of these products. I have also read
comments that some users employ both Ad-aware and Spybot S
& D on the basis that what one program doesn't catch the
other one will. Any comments?

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't.  Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded.  There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs.  See

Be aware that PC Magazine gave Spy Sweeper their Editor's Choice Award after
they rated it and others.

Jerry,

I wanted you to know that I downloaded Spybot Search &
Destroy, and it solved my problem. I now have the real
Google back in place of the phony Motor Search. Thanks for
your feedback.

I am in the same boat! Tried to shut off java, removed the link
multiple times, I can not get rid of it!!  It also seems to load some
links to my desk-top.  Everytime I reboot, it comes back.  Has anyone
given you any advise?

Elvis.

Have you looked?

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove what is almost certainly
a variant of the CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:
