I've reinstalled IE6+SP1 and still have a -no home screen. In other words, no URL and even if I type one in, nothing happens. Some taskbar functions work, some don't. Can't get preference menu on IE, but can get it by right clicking desktop icon. Disconnected anti-virus, spykiller,and firewall during installation. IE repair tool acts as though it's fixing problem, but on reboot same result. Tried changing registry value from 1 to 0 and reinstalling with still no result. Try this,open IE6 Click tools/internet options. On the programs tab make sure there is a tick in "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" Click apply/ok. Restart IE6. Have you been using another browser,mozilla or opera? John Corday, The issue most likely stems from the fact that "spykiller" is a rogue anti-spyware application : http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm Recommend you uninstall it ASAP. Then download, install, and update AdAware SE http://www.lavasoft.nu/support/download/ Spybot http://computercops.biz/downloads-file-108.html Then Enable Hidden Files and Folders (System Files) http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html Once you've done the above, boot to Safe Mode and scan the system with AdAware, then Spybot. Choose the "Perform full system scan" option when using AdAware, have Spybot remove all entries marked in red.
