The dreaded error message caused by Msnmsvc in MSNIAWA.DLL appearing w/in
5 min of loading after sign in to MSN 9. When I try to sign out at end of
session,
my modem stays on. Only way to close is to shut down pc or reboot system.
I have dialup. This has only been occurring for the last three days. MSN
will not
close unless I shut down. Are these files rel. to my msn accelerator
download?
If so, can I delete the accelerator file, to fix my problem?

In addtion, after the "MSNIASVC causing error in the  .DLL"  message, the
flahing monitor icon (showing accel. level and speed) on the task bar
DISSAPEARS
though I'm still online (while I'm still browsing).

A number of the MSN additions that I've found (I'll avoid defamatory posts)
are trojans or viruses by definition. You should consider running a full
time scanner and now, at this point, scanning your drive for all forms of
viruses, trojans, and malware. Any one of those bits of crapware could
easily account for your computer's behavior.

Thanks for the advice. I run my av (AVG) almost daily, run Spybot weekly, w/
updating reg., weekly scan and defrag. On some other tech sites I've searched,
the have recomm. deleting the dll file in the msn\msnia\wa, and reinstalling
the dial-up accelerator. I am hesitant to delete any dll file (the last
time I deleted a dll (for another reason), i had to reinstall winme.

Scan for viruses with the latest definitions with your AV scanner before
installing any MSN (or any other file) add-ons. Re-installation because of
wanting to get more from MSN (and that is the root of the problem) is a bit
much. The one site that I was referring to had a ratio of 3 to 7 (in my
experience -- I only downloaded 7 files) that held trojans. The owner of the
site seemed indifferent and kept the files on the server even though there
were uploaded by random users. I went back and checked but that was, I'm
afraid, at least a year and a half ago. Site's still there so be careful on
the 'net huh? Update then scan, double check, doubt, check with other
people, then install... Just advice, do with it as you want but it's been my
motto for years. The old adage about free stuff not being really free is
true and it's time to look gift horses in the mouth. That adage (among a few
about weather) are wrong.

I'm getting the same thing.  For me it started after I
installed NIS 2005.  But I think I updated MSN afterwards
too.  If I find anything, I'll be sure and post it.

After turning ms accelerator off, by setting the level to none (after rt.
clicking
on the monitor/accel. icon on the task bar) as soon as my home page starts
loading, the MSNIAWA error message no longer comes up and my MSN
and modem shuts down normally after clicking sign off.  Now to get rid
of ALL
    acceler. files....... Any suggestions?
