I have cable for internet. Whenever I click on the IE to open up on the
bottom says detecting the proxy and takes about a good 30 seconds before it
gets me the starting page. This also happens for Outlook Express. Is there
anything I can do to remedy this annoying wait time? I don't recall changing
anything. I am running AV, firewall in the background. Thanks for any
suggestion.
If you are not using a proxy server, un-check that option in Internet
Explorer's Tools/Options/Connections/LAN Settings box.

Richard thanks for the reply. It is set at automatic detection already.

As Richard said in his post, if you aren't using a proxy UNcheck the
automatic proxy detection checkbox.
