Icons on favorite list look the same

How do I change the icons so they reflect the actual websites instead of the
blue E on a piece of paper?

They're called Favicons.  They are stored in Temporary Internet Files (TIF)
and are lost when TIF is cleared or they expire out of TIF.  They can be
preserved or recovered with this program:
