I'm working on a Windows ME system that uses a dial-up connection. If
I sign on through a dialup connection I have a connection for a minute
or so before I am disconnected. After being disconnected a new Dialup
connection is made that tries to dial a different number everytime its
launched. If I kill one connection another one starts immediately.
Here are a couple sample numbers it tries to dial:
101080501131632012778
10142200118819900060955
Does anyone know what is going on?
I noticed a process running in msconfig called be1bd9fc.exe or
belbd9fc.exe. I have also noticed their is an instance of fntldr.exe
running that I have idetified as spyware. Any help on this would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

You've picked up a rogue dialler and as you already know this is
malware/spyware. You need to cleanse your system as a matter of urgency
and in future ensure you practice safe hex by keeping your AV application
up to date and being careful about the sites you visit and the links you
click.
None of the three processes you mention are part of Win Me so, as a start,
you could try booting to Safe Mode and deleting them and also remove any
suspicious entries in MSConfig | Startup. If this procedure doesn't help
grab yourself a copy of HijackThis
(http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html) and post the log to the
HijackThis forum at http://aumha.net/ where you should find someone who
will help you remove any unwanted files and processes. Please read the
admin post at the top of the forum first before posting so you are aware
of what you need to do.
