Hi, I got a Me computer about 7 years ago, and recently I have no connection
to the internet, even though the high speed internet modem for me is working.
I think that there is a big glitch in the operating system, and it has
dramatically slowed down and freezes. My Anti-Virus software is
Norton-Antivirus 2005, and my internet browser is IE6 sp1. I think that is a
new time to get a computer (7 YEARS), but I only use it for internet and word
processing. Got any comments on this. I also recently have been reciving
threats of worms attacking my computer if that helps.

An AV application that is 101% incompatible with Win Me and cause far more
problems with the operating system than any it might prevent.  Such
problems are wide-ranging and can affect many areas including trashing
system restore and making the installation of new hardware and some
programs virtually impossible.

My advice would be to check your system on-line using something like Trend
Micro's Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) after which I would
then install a compatible AV application of which there are many to
consider including free and paid for versions such as Avast (from Atwil),
AVG (from Grisoft), Panda, Trend, Computer Associates, NOD32 and
Kaspersky.  I wouldn't recommend McAfee although this has improved and
strongly recommend that you avoid any product with the Symantec or Norton
label as most cause major problems with Win Me.
