I am reeiving an error code "0x800A138F" after pressing
the scan for updates after launching Windows Update from
the start menu.

I have tried all the suggested troubleshooting tips,
including clearing the Programs/Windows Update folder
files, as the tech message suggests, but no luck.

This is not due to a firewall or virus scan, I am not
running one. It worked fine earler today, however, I did
upload Explorer 6 toay. That is about all I know to offer
as help. Can someone help?

Thanks
Bob Brennan

Turn off any Norton or McAfee programs.

I'm visiting my mother and my brother had set up Norton System Works 2002 on
her machine.  I had to disable it to get Windows Update to work.  I was
getting the same error message.
