I have the following setup:
WinXP,  2.7Ghz processor,  512Mb memory Moviemaker 5.1,  USB Instant VideoCD
capture card.  I'm in the UK using PAL

I am trying to set the frame rate in Config video
capture/Settings/Properties to 25Hz but it refuses to change from 30Hz.  I
am sure this is why I am getting jerky capture. I can set it in Ulead
Videostudio but not in Moviemaker. Can anyone help please.

Geoff.

I assume you mean fps and not hz?
It sounds like you have MM set to capture in ntsc, not pal.

Thanks, but it is set to PAL(BGHIN) which is the only PAL that seems to
work.

Which version of movie maker are you running?
I ask as, one this is the me newsgroup for movie maker version 1. You say
you are running xp, which could be running MM2 or MM2.1 but you can still
use MM1 if you want. Version 5.1 is the windows version, the version of
movie maker is below this.
PAL (BGHIN) confuses me, I've never seen anything named like that.
The setting of the video properties in MM2.1 is Tools > Options > Advanced
which is different to the way you say you are doing it???

Thanks for the reply.

I couldn't see a newsgroup specifically for XP so I posted here.  Anyway,
since then I found the newsgroup at Microsoft so I have posted it there.  I
have MM2.0 as I don't want to use service pack2 at the moment and BGHIN
confuses me too but it is definitely there.   Thanks for the advice, I'm
away for a couple of weeks so I'll sort it out at a later date.

and for when you come back,
http://kropla.com/tv.htm
It seems BGHIN is probably a set of the different PAL varieties, and not one
in particular. It may be that the PAL recording is not compatible with the
PAL set up you have????
Can you put a secreen grab on-line of the set-up where it shows PAL BGHN.

Thanks for all the advice and the link.

They are indeed all the different types of PAL.   I also got my programs a
bit mixed.  The BGHIN is in Pure Motion Capture 2 and not in MM2.  I'lll try
a different capture card & see if that stops me getting jerky video.

Once again, many thanks.

No my ISP doesn't carry that one!   So I set up the MS one.
Thanks,

Geoff
