how do i save my WMM final production to dv-avi so that i can view them at
home on my dvd player?

AFAIK Win Me's MovieMaker cannot save files in DV-AVI form.

If using XP's MovieMaker:
File | Save Movie File |  My Computer | enter name and location of file to
be saved | Other Settings and from the drop down box select DV-AVI.  Note
that a DV-AVI file will be very large.
