I just cleaned my hard drive and re-installed windows ME
and before I cleaned my drive my sound worked perfectly
but now it does not work at all. When I turn on the
computer it says PCI multimedia device detected. But since
it does not recognize the card I cannot install the
drivers. Can someone please help? Thank you. It is an
Aureal 3d sound card. Thank you

It appears you have not installed the necessary drivers for your sound card.
Win Me won't recognise the card until you install the drivers and therefore I
don't know why you say you cannot install drivers.  Now if Win Me couldn't
detect the card that would be different but in your case Win Me can see your
card, hence the PCI Multimedia Device in the Device Manager, which just leaves
you to install the necessary drivers.  You can do that either by using Control
Panel | Add New Hardware or by selecting the PCI Multimedia Device in the
Device Manager.

Did you get a CD with the card ? You may have to use that to install the
A3D card. Failing that, googling thru the net should turn up several
locations for the (hard to get) A3D drivers.
