Trying to setup a new notebook with WinMe and my home
network. The computer name propagates but I can't access
the notebook. When trying to set a network place on the
notebook, (drive is shared) it reports that it can't find
the "network name". There seems no reference as to the
definition of "network name". The workgroup name is the
same on all machines and the other computers link OK.
I've heard some vague references to a bad vdx file on the
web, but these seem to relate to earlier versions of
Win98. Any suggestions?

I not sure what you mean about a network name but to set up nework connect
use the UNC path of \\computername\sharename Find your computername in
nework properties.

That was my understanding also, but when I try to add it
Windows puts up a message that it can't find the "Network
Name". It's got me stumped.
