USB Cable Modem

All,
Helping my father-in-law here, so be gentle.  Running ME, had an issue.
Inadvertenly reinstalled OS (don't ask).  Now USB cable modem not recognized.
No NIC.  How to setup the TCP/IP and get him back online?

Locate the CD that came with the USB cable modem and install the drivers. No
CD? Try the cable modem manufacturer's web site; usually they supply the
necessary drivers as downloads.

I had a simmular problem.I had to remove the USB entries in the Device
Manager and reboot.Make sure that the CD with the driver is in and the
modem is on.To add TCP settings,control panel/network/configuration/add
protocol
