When I used ME before, I was using dialup modem. Installing on an old
computer for my mom and want to complete all the updates, virus software, etc
using my existing cable modem which will speed things up dramatically before
taking to her house and setting up her dialup. Any assistance in how to set
up Internet access on ME using my existing cable modem. I am hoping to
disconnect from my computer and use on hers to download everything. Thanks!

There shouldn't be any setup necessary - connect WindowsMe to the cable
modem, be sure that the network card is set up to get an IP address
automatically, and it should find and use the cable modem.  I've done
exactly this for my mother-in-law several times.

To keep out Internet hackers, make sure that a firewall program is
active before connecting the cable modem.
