Run the Network Setup Wizard on XP. Don't run the Wizard on ME, even
if it tells you to.
Make sure that the Guest account is enabled for network access on XP
by typing this line in the Start | Run box:
net user guest /active:yes
Remove any network password from the Guest account on XP:
1. Click Start | Run.
2. Type "control userpasswords2" in the box and click OK:
3. Click Guest.
4. Click Reset Password.
5. Click OK without entering a new password.
If the XP computer has XP Professional and you've explicitly disabled
simple file sharing, create matching user accounts -- with the same
user name and non-blank password -- on both computers.

I have a similar situation. 3 machines share a DSL router. The 2 XP
machines log onto a domain. My ME machine is in a workgroup. The 2 XP
machines share all discs. My laser printer is connected to the ME
machine's parallel port. My color printer is connected to XP1's parallel
port.
The 2 XP machines can access each other's hard drives and both printers all
well as all drives on the ME machine. When I try to access the color
printer or either XP machine from the ME, I get asked for a password.
Nothing works. Passwords have been reset as described below.
Firewalls have been turned off. All printers and drives are shared.
All I want to print to the color printer from the ME machine????

Make your administrator password on both XP and ME the same or create
the same user on both machines with the same password.
