I'd start by trying the generic Win Me HCF Modem driver from
Conexant/Rockwell.  See http://www.conexant.com/support/  Click the link
Modem Driver assistance, click the Agree button to agree to their terms
and then download the Win Me HCF Generic Modem Driver (HCFp_WinME.zip).

In addition to what Mike said, there's a usefull
List Modem Identification utility on that page too.

It can help point to the original manufacturer,
where you might be able to get the proper drivers.

I've used it several times with good results.

Hi Ron:  Thank you too for replying so quickly  I will do that also.  I used
Everest - that is what it came up with  I was able to get all the correct
drivers for his computer ( the  mother board is MSI ) except that modem but
I think I will pop the case open and check the modem's manufacturer and
number just incase , I found that program quite reliable Jackie

Jacqueline,  while I think (and hope) that Mike M and Ron Lowe's advice will
resolve your problem, you need to be careful.
If the modem is an on-board device, on the MSI mainboard, and not a PCI card
add-in, then MSI may have their special driver, which should be obtained
from them.
While the generic driver may work well for the basic modem functions, some
special functions may require the MSI driver.

So while in the box, get the m/b model number, rev. number, etc, from the
silkscreened info near the center of the board, and compare it to the
Everest report to confirm, in the event this info is needed now or later.

HTH,
