Ok, VPN connection from an ME machine connected via cable
modem.  The VPN connection works fine, I can ping the
remote server, and I can connect to it via TightVNC no
problem.  When I try to map a network drive however, I
get a message that says a password is required for the
resource.  The shares are not password protected, and all
the permissions are correct.  Win2k and WinXP systems map
the drives without any problems.

Am I missing something in ME that I don't have to
configure in Win2k/XP?

Hi Jim,

I hate to do a "me too" on a newsgroup, but I am seeing
the exact same problem.  I can VPN to the remote LAN
and find the machine I want to access, but I can't see
the shared directories from an ME client.  I am prompted
ONLY for a password.  I don't know why it doesn't also
ask for a username but it doesn't.  Of course, it fails.

When I run the same function from a W2K machine I am
prompted for a password.  That fails, but then I am
prompted for a username AND password.  That works!!

If you get an answer to this post I hope you'll copy
me.

Thanks,
Richard
