I have a router that uses DHCP to assign IP's. I set my
ME box to obtain IP automatically, but always get a
169.254.144.33 address assigned when the router is
supposed to assign 10..... IP's. At one point I had tryed
to set up a hub, and had used the Home Networking Wizard.
Is there something that could be overridding my new
settings for DHCP?

If a PC gets a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx address that means that it is not seeing the
DHCP Server and is assigning itself a private address. This could be a bad
network card, a bad network cable, or incorrect network settings.

If you manually set up the IP settings can you ping the router that is
supposed to provide DHCP addresses? Often this problem is a bad network
cable, NIC or hub.
