Problem printing in color

I have a HP Deskjet 842c, I recently purchased new ink
cartridges both the black and color ink. But for some
reason it will not print in color. Why and what can I do
to fix this. First time ever having this problem.

Read the printer manual for instructions on how to run a
cleaning/maintenance cycle.
