Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me...
I have a HP DeskJet 5150 USB printer that refuses to
print on the first print task demanded. I have to cancel
the print job or kill (CTRL-ALT-DEL) the Windows Me print
spooler and sent a new print command. The printout then
works properly. All subsequent print jobs are correctly
executed until a reboot is issued.
I have corresponded with HP Total Care for the last 2
weeks without a solution. At last they have told me that
it is most likely a Microsoft Windows Millenium problem
and I shoud contact Microsoft.
We have tried printing directly to the printer with the
RAW option, using a generic DeskJet 550C printer,
changing the USB port types, installing a new USB card,
uninstalling/resinstalling the HP Deskjet 5150 drivers,
performing a clean boot (without drivers loaded on
startup), etc. All without a result. The printer/drivers
work properly on other computers running Windows Me here
in the shop. Only the client's computer refuses to print
the first job asked.
Therefore, I believe that the problem lies in the Windows
Me Printing subsystems. I was wondering is there a quick
and easy way to delete everything handeling the printing
on this operating system and have it reinstall from the
original Windows Me CD?
Thank you,
Scott
Computer technician.

Did you install the driver on the HP site?

It has a December 2003 timestamp, maybe newer than the one you have installed

Mary,
I believe the client has the same version of the drivers. Anyhow, the
drivers work perfectly on my test computers running Windows Me.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I have been in complete contact with HP
tech support for the last 2 weeks. We have already attempted the trouble
shooting stops outlined in your second link.
HP and I believe there is something wrong with the Windows printing
subsystems. This is why we are asking if there is a way to restore all
original windows spooler/drivers for the printing aspect of this OS.
Thanks,
Scott.
