I have a Canon BJC265SP printer which has been checked out
and is working. I have recently changed to Win.ME and when
I want to print I get error message " Error in writing to
LPT1 for printer Bjc265Sp - unknown error".
I have followed all steps in help, contacted Canon, drank
lots of coffee, but need other help to use my printer.
Someone please help!

I think this would indicate a fault in the driver for the LPT port, not the
printer.

Disconnect and uninstall the printer.

Go into the Device Manager, doubleclick on Ports (Com and LPT), uninstall
the LPT port.  Reboot and see if WindowsME reinstalls the LPT port by
itself.

If not you may need the motherboard drivers.... if it's a Via chipset,
they'll be the Via Hyperion (used to be called 4 in 1) from
www.viaarena.com.  If it's Intel chipset, they're at www.intel.com.

There are other chipsets as well, so be sure you know what chipset you have
before installing anything!
