I think this would indicate a fault in the driver for the LPT port, not the
printer.
Disconnect and uninstall the printer.
Go into the Device Manager, doubleclick on Ports (Com and LPT), uninstall
the LPT port. Reboot and see if WindowsME reinstalls the LPT port by
itself.
If not you may need the motherboard drivers.... if it's a Via chipset,
they'll be the Via Hyperion (used to be called 4 in 1) from
www.viaarena.com. If it's Intel chipset, they're at www.intel.com.
There are other chipsets as well, so be sure you know what chipset you have
before installing anything!
