For 13 years I've been using an Apple Scribe serial printer. It uses
thermal paper in a roll, so I can print banners that are continuous, and
dark from start to finish. I'm running DOS programs through ME with no
problem.
If I print to the Scribe with a Windows program it prints condensed on just
the left half of the page. I'm wondering if anybody can suggest an
initialization code to override the default Condensed initialization. The
Scribe is basically compatible with an Apple ImageWriter.
I can't find the manual. I used to know all the ESC codes that I had to
enter to setup DOS programs.
The Apple Printer Forum wasn't any help.
With fax paper so cheap I could stop buying expensive injet cartridges if I
can get this setup.

It sounds like it's not using the correct printer driver. When you choose a
printer driver for a printer, Windows assumes that this printer is using
factory default settings for that printer. If the driver that you are using
is for a compatible printer, the instructions sent to the printer assume
that you are using the factory default settings for that particular printer
and sends the code accordingly.
I suggest trying other printer drivers that may be compatible and checking
to see if this printer has a button or switch to reset it to the defaults.
