Your problem would appear to lie with your printer's drivers. Check whether
more recent drivers are available than those you are using. Have you tried
uninstalling your printer and drivers and then going through the installation
again?

I downloaded the most recent ME driver version (last Tues)
This is when the problem started. I attempted to install
with the directiond given by LexMark. I then attemted to
install with the Install wizard. Had found an article that
some music program my daughter had installed may be the
culprit I uninstalled. The process got to the point where
the system was constintly locking up (this was before I
had realized that by disconecting the printer would
resolve the issue of lock ups). I did a reinstall of
Windows ME loading only the applications needed not all
the ones supplied when purchased. I downloaded the current
driver for the printer had the Install wizard intall.
During the process thesystem locked again msgsrv32 (not
responding) I unplugged from the USB port the sysem
responded. I plugged the USB back in and again it locked.
I then unplugged the printer from the AC outlet and
plugged it into a differnt outlet and the system
recovered. I then changed the settings of the Power
manager to be off ( I would have to run through again to
see what I had changed. All worked fine for one day. My
daughter is now at college and experincing the problem
again. I am not sure if the power setting has changed. I
just read someone else having a problem with changing the
power management setting and the change not staying after
a shutdown so I will have my daughter check the settings
if I can rember how I did it the first time (had the PC
infront of me at the time) Hopefully I will be able to
walk her through it.
Thank you for a quik response
Jim
