Hello,
I am trying to get a new machine with AMD Athlon 2600+
work. I have installed WinMe and I am getting the above
error message. I have looked through all the different
support pages, but the comments there about "faulty RAM"
are not relevant. The 512MB memory is ok!
When I move the harddisk to an older machine with a
Pentium II CPU it works ok, but it does not start on the
new fast machine. If I try to start in Safe Mode I get
the error message about the ".\iosubsys error".
Can anybody advice me what to do?
Thanks and regards
Ray

The drivers required for a PII system and an AMD system are vastly
different - you'll now need to reinstall ME (preferably clean) again to get
the correct drivers installed.
Make sure that you have the  current motherboard/chipset drivers available,
BEFORE installing ME.
Make sure that the BIOS will work with ME, and that the settings are correct
for a Win9x system.

Thank you for the suggestion Noel,
I will try one more time and let you know what happened.
