Internal Restore File?

I know there's a restore file located deep inside the computer somewhere.
Can anyone tell me exactly where this is? I figure that this is the only way
that I can safely restore my settings and fix my sound problems. Thanks.

Is there? Are you thinking about Win Me's system restore, if so see Win
Me's Help & Support, or are you thinking here of some recovery image that
might have been placed there by the manufacturer of your PC that will
restore it to the state it was in when first purchased, in which case read
the manual provided with the PC as this is not part of Win Me..

What problems are you having with sound? Knowing this, hopefully someone
will be able to provide a solution.

Well, I remember using this file earlier to fix the problem, but the location
of the file escaped my mind. But if you can help me with the sound problem,
then I guess i'll forget it for now.

There are a few things that I have encountered. First, when I go to the
Sounds and Multimedia option in the Control Panel, I can select my sound card
(Crystal WDM Audio), but when i go to it again, it doesn't select it. Second,
I got to the System.ini file to see what's the problem, and i am missing the
"wave=mmsystem.dll" file. I have the mmsystem.dll file ready to go, but i
don't know where to put it to make sure the sound works. Third, the volume
isn't showing on the desktop. Please help.

A couple of questions. Have you read up on Win Me's system restore in
Help & Support? Have you decided whether it was Win Me's system restore
or some OEM recovery image that you are talking about? Knowing which you
are referring to would also help rather than your reference to some
mysterious hidden restore file.

Having read up on System Restore have you tried using it to roll your
system back to a checkpoint made before your sound problems began?

Alternatively. Try booting to Safe Mode, open the Device Manager and
delete all sound related entries. Boot back into Normal Mode and let Win
Me redetect your hardware and reinstall your sound drivers. mmsystem.dll
belongs in the windows\system folder.

for some reason, it's not working. i still cannot get the windows sound to
work. I'll keep trying, but i would appreciate some more help if it's
possible.
