Everytime i start up windows when all my start up programs have loaded an
alert pops up called Microsoft visual++, it tells me "a buffer over run has
been detected which has corrupted the programs internal state." if i leave
the box things run fine, but as soon as i click it everything dissapears for
a few seconds and comes back, and so does the warning.

please how do i fix this problem and what has caused it??

What AV application are you running?  Does it have updated reference
signatures?  What you are seeing is suggestive of a compromised system,
more likely though from unwanted adware, spyware or trojan than an actual
virus or worm.  Do you run any anti-adware/spyware programs such as
Adaware or Spybot Search & Destroy?
