Out of curiosity has any one by any chance got a Packard
Bell machine,if so it seems that they have somehow managed
to disable the standard windows restore in favour of thier
own smart restore which is not so smart at all in fact it
is a sorry excuse. I have been trying now for over 18
months to find a solution without succes if any one out
there can help please let me know A.S.A.P as this is
driving me to distraction.Just to add I have looked in the
normal places to enable windows restore only to find it is
not disabled BUT IT IS.

My old machine was a Packard Bell with WinME that also had a Smart Restore
but I also had Windows System Restore.
I believe the Smart Restore was for if you had to do a reinstall and it
contained some of the software that was bundled with the machine, never
had to use it. I was able to use the WinME System Restore without any
problems.
You should be able to find answers to most of your questions about SR by
looking at Noel's site which I see he has given you the link for.
