Hi I am having this error message window(with the name
MSIEXEC) pops up when trying to install some
software..'Windows Cannot Find MSIEXEC....' I found some
instructions to unregister and register the Windows
installer service. When I try to follow the instructions
and type the following in DOS at the C prompt ie.
msiexec/unregister I get bad command or file. Any ideas
on hoe to fix this problem? Thanks
Amit

The error you are seeing is a result of having an incorrect version of
msi.dll.
See MS KB 324638 - "OFFXP: "The MSIEXEC.EXE File Is Linked to a Missing
Export MSI.DLL:222" Error Message When You Try to Install, Update, or
Remove
a
Windows Installer-Based Program"
The KB includes instructions as to how to install v2.0 of the Windows
Installer including a link from which you can download a new copy of the
Windows installer.

Rather than unregistering and reregistering why not try installing the latest
version. For details of how to do so see MS KB 324638 - "OFFXP: "The
MSIEXEC.EXE File Is Linked to a Missing Export MSI.DLL:222" Error Message When
You Try to Install, Update, or Remove a Windows Installer-Based Program"
(http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=324638) which contains a link to the
Windows Installer and explains how to reinstall it.
