Hi all...
Periodically, when my PC goes through the boot stages
(memory, PCI settings etc) before loading Windows I see
the following displayed: "Update ESCD Sucessfully". When
this happens, after Windows has loaded, my mouse is locked
up and the system seems slow.
Restarting, shows the message again, but my mouse then
works.
Any ideas? It is periodic and very frustrating!
Thanks all,
Vicks

The Update ESCD message is from your system bios and has nothing to do with
the operating system as it happens before it is loaded. Look at your
hardware. You've got a clue in that your mouse sometimes works and sometimes
does not. Check the connection. Try swapping the mouse with another, perhaps
by borrowing one from a friend. This would eliminate the mouse itself being
the cause of the problem.

you have a loose or broken mouse cable/connection.
While the system is off, unplug and replug the mouse.
