c:\windows\.exe?

HI,
There are some .exe files in the c:\windows folder that cannot be opened by clicking on them.
When I click to try to open them, they flicker for about a half second with a black box, opening and then immediately closing with a blink of an eye. Why can't I open these files?
I am using windows ME and the file that are in question are: c:\windows\ping.exe
route.exe
tracert.exe
ipconfig.exe

The reason for this is that they are DOS commands - if you open a DOS window
and type the command followed by a '\?' you'll get the correct syntax for
use.
